How Photo Mode Refocuses the Experience of Game Worlds

Adding an additional layer of interaction to a game is how photomode deepens the experience players have with digital worlds. Integrating a way for players to capture virtual snapshots alone does not transform the player experience, in the same way that putting a camera in someone’s hand doesn’t make them a photographer.
User onboarding is the anticipatory planning on how a user gets introduced to the mechanics and features of an interactive digital world. The process needs to equip them with the necessary information in the relevant context at the opportune moment to enable progression through the intended experience.
Onboarding extends beyond mechanical instruction, tooltips, and how-to guides. It’s impact affects not only a user’s ability to interact but also the experience they take away after. Knowing what buttons to press does little to give deeper context or meaning and onboarding can be used as a vehicle to deliver both.
